| Training Workshop on Measurements of Inequality of Opportunity and Inequality of Outcomes |
|
The training workshop covered techniques of measuring inequality of income, health and education status using a variety of survey data sets from Arab countries. It covered both parametric and non-parametric methods of linking inequality of outcomes to underlying inequalities of circumstances, such as family background, ethnicity, gender, and place of origin. An open call for participation was launched and widely disseminated. Out of 51 applications received, 25 applicants were accepted. The training lasted for a period of 4 days. Trainees benefited from sharing their experiences with their peers and from the feedback of three experienced economists: Ragui Assaad, University of Minnesota, Nadia Belhaj Hassine, Economic Research Forum and Djavad Salehi-Isfahani, Virginia Tech University.
